A homegoing service for Mrs. Ellen Louise Ellis of Tampa, Florida who passed away on October 24, 2017 will be held on Saturday, November 4th, 12:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Minister Jerry Elmore, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Sister Ellen was born on July 24, 1936 to Mary Rose Blackmon in Hawthorne, Florida. She attended elementary school in Hillsborough County. Later, she moved to New Jersey where she completed and received her high school diploma and her license in Cosmetology. After returning to Tampa she completed her real estate courses. She was employed as a beautician, a health care giver with St. Joseph's Hospital, Hospice and private home care. She was a faithful member of the Nebraska Avenue Church of Christ, under the leadership of Pastor Jerry Elmore. She loved working in the body of Christ and spreading the Gospel to the lost. Ellen was an avid bowler and a dedicated member of the Ladies of Curtis Avenue Neighborhood Association. She was preceded in death by her mother; Mary Rose Blackmon; grandmother, Sally Blackmon; aunts, Jessie Mae Williams, Mildred Blackmon, Katie Byrd and uncle, Paul Blackmon. In her passing she leaves precious memories with her cousins, Jessie Mae Parks (Alfred), Larry Westley, Facunda Arenas, Margaret Arenas, Jesus Arenas, Michael King, Sr. (Jackie), Anthony Armwood, Victoria Pollock, Janice Brewton, Beverly Mitchell, Lisa Pollock, and Gregory Parks; a host of other relatives, friends and neighbors; devoted friends, Roy, Brenda, Thelma, Kathy, Irene and her church family. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home Friday, November 3rd, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
