Dr. Eloise Cabrera-White, age 91, was born on December 9, 1932, to the late Maud Gill Johnson and Zebbie Johnson in Eviston, FL. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, she was reared in Micanopy, FL, and will be deeply missed. She was the oldest of 6 children: Ethel Evans (Arthur), Bernice Henry (Russell), Dorothy Mitchell (Clarence), Daniel Johnson (Lonnie), and Shirley Johnson, and the proud granddaughter of Walter Isiah and Maggie Gill. Dr. Cabrera-White attended Florida A&M University, where she received a Bachelor'sDegree in Education; Indiana University, where she received a Master's Degree in Education; and NOVA University, where she received a Doctorate in Education. Dr. Cabrera-White was married to the late Dr. Marion Charles Cabrera, and they became the first black husband and wife principals in Hillsborough County Public Schools. She was the first black woman to be recognized as the State of Florida "Principal of the Year" and was a founding member of the Hillsborough Alliance for Black School Educators. Throughout her career, Dr. Cabrera-White was known for her hard work, dedication,and passion for educating and helping children and others. Dr. Cabrera- White openedand transformed schools throughout the Broward and Hillsborough counties for over 40years. She was the embodiment of "Excellence with Caring." Above all, Dr. Eloise Cabrera-White was a devoted Mother and Grandmother. She loved spending time with her daughter Yolanda Cabrera-Liggins (William) and beloved grandchild Ajani Liggins Sr. (Destany). She was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement throughout their lives. Dr. Eloise Cabrera-White enjoyed singing, sewing, reading special scriptures and gardening in her free time. She was always eager to share her knowledge and enthusiasm with others. She was an active member of the St. Peter Claver Catholic Church and later became a member of First Baptist of College Hill Church. An active member of Tampa Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She loved tohelp in any way she could in her community by volunteering for various causes andorganizations. Later in life, Dr. Eloise Cabrera-White was blessed again with her late husband, Charles J. White, and children, Marinette Chavers (Quintin) and Monica White; Grandchildren, Alexis Chavers, David White, and Chelsea Chavers. Great Grandchildren, Rahmier Gardner-White, Ajani Liggins Jr, Tobias Liggins, Josiah Liggins, and Ontario Liggins, with whom she loved sharing stories and playing games. Her spirit and legacy live on through her family, which includes a host of in-laws, cousins, nephews, nieces, close friends, and sorority sisters. Also special thanks to her caregivers. Her memory will be cherished by all.
