Eloise M.
Scott
August 29, 1934 – January 16, 2025
Mrs. Eloise "Lois" Scott was born on August 29, 1934, in Tampa, Fl. to the late Joseph and Rosa Bennett. She was educated through the Hillsborough County School system, graduating from Don Thompson High. Eloise married her high school sweetheart, Airman Robert Dixon. Within a few short years he was killed in a tragic automobile accident. This did not diminish her, instead she later met and married Airman Cleveland Scott. On an Airforce base in Oklahoma, Lois experienced discrimination and vowed to have her name recognized as a bowling champion. This led her to win every possible trophy available. Everyone knew and referred to her as Lois Scott, the reigning bowling. She brought that love of bowling back
to Tampa and helped create 3 bowling leagues including Soul Keglers. If you knew her you also knew not to challenge her whether it was bowling or making a shot from half court, she always rose to the challenge. She decided to take a part time position and began her career focused on nurturing and teaching young minds. As her own children grew, so did her commitment. Eventually, her dedication led to a promotion that opened
doors to a whole new world of creativity. Later she focused her efforts on teaching both ceramics and sewing. In one of the few air-conditioned recreation centers in our area, she shared her expertise in sewing, ceramics, and various artistic endeavors. Her impact was felt by children and adults alike, igniting a passion for creativity that transcended all ages. She loved to travel and visited cities across the nation as a wife of military spouses, as a mother visiting her children, as a mother and grandmother traveling internationally with her children and grandchildren. She had a light in her that literally translated to joy! To know Lois was to love her! She was kind, giving, and loving to everyone. Her love was
unlimited and unconditional. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by spouse, Cleveland Scott; parents, Joseph Bennett and Rosa Williams Bennett; daughter, Kathy (Romello) Rodriguez; in-laws, Rufus (Christine) Scott, Leroy Scott, Clarence Scott; siblings, Charles Lee Bennett, Corrine Spears, Geneva Norman
