Homegoing Celebration for Mother Emma Gene Francis of Tampa who passed away Sunday, May 1, 2011, will be held Saturday, May 7th, 11:30 a.m. at 34th Street Church of God, 3000 N. 34th St., Rev. Dr. Thomas Scott, with Dr. Charles Kennedy, officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mother Emma Gene Francis was born on October 18, 1923, in Pierce County, Georgia, to her parents, the late, Abner and Viola Thompson. She worked at the VA Hospital in New York City for 30 years as a dietitian. Mother Emma Gene accepted the Lord and attended Holy Tabernacle Church of God in Christ. Her Pastor, the Richard L. Bratton for 20 years. She moved to Tampa, Florida, and attended Glorious Church of God in Christ, with Pastor Charles Kennedy for 10 years. She then moved on to Pastor Ronald Fields Word of Reconciliation Church family until her passing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Abner and Viola Thompson; sister, Willie Bell Sander and Mildred Davis; brother, Johnny Benson, husband Ethelbert Francis, daughter Sherlyn Francis. She leaves to cherish her memories, daughter Mrs. Sherma Harris and husband, Earl Harris, Jr.; grandson, Jeremiah Michael Harris, Reggie Harris for taking her to her appointment; niece Mrs. Linda Cotton, and husband, Reginald Cotton; daughters, Tarnish & Keith Spain, Kymon Spain, Keonte Spain, Tara Cotton, and Jayons Simmons; niece, Caroline Oliver, Lillie Oliver, Brandy Oliver, Robert Anderson and Nathan Anderson; her neighbors Don & Jackie Andrews for 19 years. She was like a mother to Mrs. Jackie; her church family and friends in New York, Holy Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, especially Sister Terry; church family of Reconciliation Church, Pastor and Sister Fields and sons, Sis. Betty Glenn, the Mothers and friends; church family, Glorious Church of God in Christ, Pastor Kennedy and friends, Dec. Harris and family, Sis. Velma, Sis. Sneed and family, Sis. Alma and family and Sis. Lousie and family. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Thursday, May 5th, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the church at 10:45 a.m. for the services on Saturday.
