A homegoing celebration for Mrs. Emogene Y. Smith Mitchell of Tampa, who passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 will be held on Saturday, July 30th, 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of College Hill, 3838 N. 29th St., Dr. S. Evan Burrows pastor, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Emogene was born on February 1, 1945 to the late Matthew Fordoms and Vashti Riley in Tampa, Florida. She was preceded in death by parents, Matthew and Vashti Fordoms; brothers, Sylvester, Hirum and Rudolph Fordoms; husband, Odell Mitchell; She leaves to cherish her memories with her children, Gerald Miller (Cynthia), Vashti 'Tinker' Canty, Mathew Smith, Sr., (Shawn) and Ira Smith (Cassandra); grandchildren, Iresha, Irealle, Mathew, Jr., Inesha, Ebony, Aaron and Ishmael Smith, Brian Brown, Trayvious Canty and Tavon Chavcus; great grandchildren, Khalia and Ari Smith, Iyanna Hall and Ira Stallworth; brothers, Albert Fordoms (Debra) and Gerard Fordoms (Cherelle); sisters, Sarah Lee, Mary Bell (Anthony), Esther Billups and Patricia Walker (Emory); aunts, Eunice Collins and Lula Welch; nieces, Varonte Bradley and Stephanie Walker; nephews, Roman Clark, Kevin, Darryl, Sean and Duran Bell, Tavares Billups, Emory and Dietrick Walker; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, July 29th from 5-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
