Eric was born on January 24, 1954, in Tampa, Florida, to Emma Lee Young. He married Denise Beasley on August 6, 1978.

His hobbies include laughing and joking, listening to Jazz and Reggae music, taking care of rescue animals, vacationing in Jamaica, Coin Collecting, being an All-American Football player for Middleton Highschool, and Letter Winner for the University of Miami Football team in 1973.

He was preceded in death by his mother Emma Lee; stepfather, Clifford Beasley; son, Eric Douglas "Rick" Beasley; siblings, Janice Beasley Relaford, and Clifford Beasley II; grandmother, Mamie Beasley; aunt, Eddie Beasley; uncle, Jimmy Young; and cousins, Hortez Clark, Connie Smith, and Kenya Williams.

He leaves precious memories with his caregiver, Denise Beasley; nieces, Dav'Lyn Young, Jaz'Lyn Turner, Jaznice Relaford, Jacqueline Beasley, Mechelle Williams-Hopson, and others; nephews, Calden Relaford, Clifford Beasley II, Keyvus T. Bryant, Michael Bryant, and Derrick Markey Relaford; cousins, Geisha Clemmons, Sybol Smith, Clifford Ghee, Yarli Sesler, Tjada Smith, Lantie Baker, Promise Brown, Rodney Burney, Jerome Morris, Marques Smith, Christopher Lampkins, and a host of others from Tampa and Daytona; God-daughter, Jamika Williams; and best friend, Delores Timmons.
