Eric was born on April 8, 1966, in Tampa, Florida, to Claude Givens and Annette Reed. He was educated in Hillsborough County schools and worked as a woodworker.

He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Givens; and sister, Latasha Colleton.

He leaves precious memories with his 2 children, Eric Givens, Jr. (Angela), and Erica Givens; 10 grandchildren, Eric Givens III, Emani, Emari, Elijah, Jalisha Givens-Campbell, Renaryia and Rezoria Lanier, Tarajiae Williams, and Shaniese and Kamille Nobles; 3 sisters, Vivian Niles (Walter), Wanda Chapman, and Tashawnda Givens; 6 brothers, Claude Givens, Jr. of Richmond, VA, Michael Givens (Sandra) of Atlanta, GA, George Givens (Winsome) of Ellenwood, GA, Reggie Givens (Alison) of Waverly Hall, GA, Daryl Givens of Stone Mountain, GA, Ronald Givens (Beverly) of Stone Mountain, GA; 4 aunts, Jewel and Katie Reed, Hattie Cross (Frank), and Tricia Poinsette; 2 uncles, Waymond Reed (Sandra), Richard Florence (Gladys) of Cario, GA; 3 nieces, Tara-Neisha Crawford, Janiqua Chapman, and Layah Givens; 10 nephews, Devin Ray, Jeffrey Slaughter (Cassandra), Jawain Chapman, Jermaine Slaughter, Jamar Chapman, Michael, Tevin, Jordan, and Jaylen Colleton, Lennox Givens, and Canin Crawford; and a host of cousins and other loving relatives and friends.
