Ernest Nathaniel Benjamin, better known as 'Scotty', was born December 12, 1937 in Sweets Antigua, West Indies to Wilfred and Margaret Benjamin. He was the oldest of nine children, 5 sisters and 3 brothers. Ernest met his wife of 47 years, Lydia Burton Benjamin on the beautiful island of Barbuda where he frequently visited. They were married on May 31, 1969 on the island of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. They were blessed with four children, Karen, Carol, Ericson and Rodney. Ernest worked for Shell Seekers, Inc, for approximately 45 years, he left the company in 2014 due to his illness. Ernest was a very giving person to anyone who asked or needed something. He liked going to the rocks to pick whelks which was one of his favorite foods. He was an avid attendant to the Pentecostal Church, where he was baptized and gave his life to the Lord. On November 17, 2016, he gave up his battle with cancer and went home where there was no more suffering and pain. He left behind his wife, children, grandchildren, step-daughter, brothers, sisters and many friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, December 9th from 5-8 p.m. The family and friends asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
