Homegoing Services for Mr. Ernest Nathaniel Jordan, affectionately called EJ, of 3712 E. Shadowlawn Ave., who lost his fight with pancreatic cancer on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, will be held Saturday, July 11th, 2:00 p.m., at Aikens Funeral home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd, with Rev. Eric Gallmon officiating. The life of Ernest began on December 4, 1948 in New York City. He was the third of seven children born to Auria C. Jordan and the late James Earl Wesley Jordan, Esq. EJ was excellent at athletics, reading and creative writing. After attending Metropolitan High School, EJ enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and did a tour of duty in Vietnam before receiving an honorable discharge. EJ returned home and began his career with the New York Telephone Company, now known as Verizon. His occupation was a repair/installation technician from which he retired after thirty one years of service. He relocated to Tampa, Florida with Debbie and Nate where they took on the scary task of home improvement which they eventually completed. Throughout life, EJ always extended himself to help others. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Earl Wesley Jordan, Jr.; grandmother, Alice Jordan; and sister, Canstance Walton. He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Auria C. Jordan; his long time companion, Debbie Franks; daughters, Edna and Michelle; sons, Nathan and Mikel; grandchildren, Terrance, Maurice and Teanna; great-grandson, Manny; sisters, Alice and Frieda; brother, Julio and Eddie; aunts, America and Bernice; uncle, Jesus; nieces, Yvonne, Robin, Shelene, Tawana, Adrienne, Pia, Joy and Jeanette; nephews, Wesley, Keith, Michael, Khalil and Jeffrey; and a host of cousins, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives, friends and loved ones. There will be no viewing of the remains on Friday. The family and friends are asked to meet at the Chapel on Saturday for the service.
