A homegoing Catholic Mass celebration for Mr. Ernest Norman, Sr. of Tampa, who passed away on Friday, July 27, 2018 will be held Saturday, August 4th 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1203 N. Nebraska Ave., Father Hugh Chikawe, pastor, officiating. Mr. Norman was born on October 23, 1926 in Opelousas, Louisiana to the late Noel Norman and Blanche Broussard. He was a devoted member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church. Ernest enjoyed baseball, cooking gumbo, fishing and going for walks. He was preceded in death by his parents, Noel Norman and Blanche Broussard; brothers, Herman Norman, Gilbert Norman, Wilbert Norman, Whitney Norman and Nelson Norman and sisters, Alberta Hundley and Anna May Walker. He leaves to cherish his memories with his wife, Geneva Norman; children, Daryl Norman, Charlene B. Capehart, Jaqueline Sellers and Ernest Norman, Jr.; grandchildren, Alex Slater, April Barkley (Dmaris), Natasha Norman, Jnia Frazier, Justin Norman, Donald Bennett, Jr., Rashaad Norman, Taralynn Norman, Laquita Carter Norman, Kaydence Norman, Tameka Bennet and Niesha Bennet; great grandchildren, Arianna Barkley, Ayden Barkley and Samuel Austin IV; nieces, Sheila Scott (Richard), Gillena Longworth, Gilbrena Longworth, Kathy Rodriguez and Bobby Jean Dixon; nephew, Willie Carr; sister-in-law, Eloise Scott; special family friend, LueQuita Jackson; and a host of other family members and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday August 3rd from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
