A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Ernestine Gloria Ponder of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Friday, July 3, 2020 was held on Tuesday, July 14th at 11:00 a.m. at Orange Hill Cemetery, 4900 E. Chelsea Street, Rev. Geraldine Christopher, officiating. The interment was held in Orange Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Ernestine Gloria Ponder was born in Tampa, Florida on August 13, 1925. Her parents were the late Jasper and Susie Paulding. Completing loving family circle were there sisters, the late Hilda Smith, Katie Branton and Angeline Russ. Ernestine attended the public schools of Hillsborough County and graduated from Middleton Senior High School in the class of 1943. Mrs. Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Jasper and Mrs. Susie Baker Paulding; her husband, Mr. Johnie Ponder; her sisters, Hilda P. Smith, Angeline Russ and Katie Branton; her brother, Dwight Paulding. Mrs. Ernestine leaves her blessed, blooming and loving memories to her daughter, Barbara Ponder Douglas (Ron), grandchildren, Reginald Glover (LaShanda), Nayland Glover, Tommie L. Glover; great-grandchildren, Reginald Glover, Jr., Xavier R. Glover, Astacia X. Glover, Micah R. Glover, Kolya Glover, Killien Glover and Dorian Glover; brothers, Jasper Paulding and wife, Randall Paulding and wife, Romeo Paulding and wife, Joseph Paulding and wife, Jerome Paulding and wife and Waltke Paulding; sisters, Margo Paulding and Rowena Paulding, Veronica Childs (Donald); nieces, Beverly Russ James (Solomon) and Carolyn Russ Alexander; great-nieces, Serena and Afrieya James; nephews, Eric Russ, Robert Russ, (Bunda) and Keith Williams; sister-in-law, Betty Harris; goddaughters, Ernestine Keith and Richardine Caso; longtime friend, Maxine Douglas, Beryl Rosen of The Lutheran Ministries; special friends, Rev. Geraldine Christopher. The visitation was held at Aikens Funeral Home on Monday, July 13th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. We are following the CDC guidelines.
