Obituary

Homegoing service for Mrs. Essie May Dupont of Tampa who passed away Monday, September 29, 2014, will be held on Saturday, October 11th, 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 3005 E. Ellicott Street, Rev. Dr. T.W. Jenkins, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Essie was the eldest daughter of the late Essac Long and Iola Sims Long. She was born September 2, 1926 in Two Egg, Florida, where she attended the schools of Jackson County. She was previously employed as a housekeeper working in Boca Grande, Florida for Mr. Oliver and in Sarasota, Florida for Mrs. Spragg and Mrs. Lindsey. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and crocheting. Essie accepted the Lord at an early age and was a member of True Vine M.B. Church, Sarasota, Florida, Rev. Harris, pastor before moving to Tampa and joining New Hope M.B. Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clem Hearns, second husband, James Dupont; son, Robert Lee Hearns; daughter, Viola Dupont; son-in-law, Roosevelt Scott; sisters, Refair Long Wilson, Sallie Mae Dickens and brothers, Joe Lewis, Allen, Leo and Clarence Long. She leaves to cherish her loving memories: 2 daughters, Ethel Marie Hearns Scott and Willie Ann Miller and husband, Thomas; son, Jimmie Leon Dupont (Cynthia Newsome Yopp); a host grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sisters, Arleavy Morris, Ollie B. Bell and Doris Vann and husband, Grover, Greenwood, FL; brothers, John Long and wife, Barbara, Donalsonville, GA and A.B. Long and wife, Shaffie, Jacksonville, FL; special friends, the New Hope M.B. Church family, Grover Yancey, Sarah Mitchell, Betty Blue, Alicia Fields and Mr. and Mrs. Herlandez and son; and a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, October 10th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive guest from 6 to 7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
