Homegoing services for Mrs. Ethel Mae Beamon Riggins "Betty Nana" of 7702 Rivergate Dr., who passed away, Wednesday, February 3, 2010, will be held Monday, February 8th, 7:30 p.m., New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2511 E. Columbus Dr., Pastor Walter J. Williams, officiating. Interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery on Tuesday, February 9th, 11:00 a.m. Mrs. Riggins was born in Davisboro, Georgia to the late Robert and Carrie (Taylor) Beamon. As a youngster she grew up as a member of the First Baptist Institutional Church in Lakeland, Florida. She lived in Schenectady, New York and was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church for 35 years. While there she was a member of the Pastor's Aide Club and participated in other church activities. She was also a member of the Schenectady Pleasant Valley Conservation Club for 20 years. In 1992, she relocated to Tampa, Florida united by letter and Christian experience. She became a member of the New Mt. Zion M.B. Church of Tampa, where she was very happy to be a member of the church family. She was a member of the Precious Jewels and a member of the Progress Village Senior Citizen Center. Her favorite bible scripture was Psalm 27. She leaves to cherish her memories: a loving and devoted daughter, Betty Williams and husband, Sammie of Tampa; grandson, Kevin C. Coney of Clearwater, Florida; great-grandchild, Aislyn D. Coney; special adoptive daughters, Clym Washington, Barbara Wright, Brenda Jordan and Margaret Bryant; special friends, Vera Brooks and Odell Loveless both of Schenectady, New York, Queta Young and Carmen Roque both of Tampa. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church Monday evening for the service. The viewing will begin at 6:00 p.m. and service to start at 7:30 p.m.
