Eufracio Calix-Colon, a cherished father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, in Tampa, Florida, at the age of 90. He was born on March 18, 1934, in Puerto Cortes, Honduras. Eufracio's journey through life was as adventurous as it was admirable. He spent many years as a Merchant Seaman, a career that allowed him to explore the world, meet diverse people, and gather a trove of stories that would later become his favorite tales to recount. His work ethic and involvement in seafaring associations were a testament to his dedication to his profession and his continual pursuit of personal growth. Those who knew Eufracio will fondly remember his passion for the simple pleasures in life. He was an avid fisherman, finding solace in the calm of the sea and the thrill of the catch. On land, Eufracio could often be found with a cold Pepsi in hand, a small indulgence that never failed to bring a smile to his face. His love for life's simple joys was infectious, and he had the unique ability to turn ordinary moments into lasting memories. He approached life with a playfulness that endeared him to everyone he met. Eufracio was always the first to offer help, a listening ear, or words of encouragement. His loving nature was the foundation upon which his family was built and remained a guiding force throughout his life.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter in his children, Sara Mirian, Enrique, Francisco, Victor, Eufracio Jr., Efrain, and Marlon. Eufracio's memory will also be treasured by his sisters, Eustacia Mena and Magdalena Hill, who will miss their brother's warmth and wisdom. Eufracio Calix-Colon lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the bonds of family. His absence will be deeply felt, but the stories of his adventures, his enduring kindness, and the echoes of his laughter will continue to inspire and comfort those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
