Obituary

A homegoing celebration for Mrs. Eva Mae Williams Minor of Tampa, Florida who passed away on February 18, 2019 will be held on Saturday, February 23rd, 2:00 p.m. at Peace Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 2607 E. 24th Avenue, Pastor Sylvester Robinson, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Eva Mae Williams was born February 11, 1935 to the union of the late Eddie and Emma Williams in Tampa, Florida. Eva received her education in Hillsborough County schools, graduating in 1953 from Middleton Senior High school. She was employed in the Veterans Administration Service System where she worked for 29 years at the VA Hospital before retiring. Eva accepted Christ at an early age and was a longtime member of Peace Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. She became an active choir member at an early age, expressing her love for singing and being part of the progressive movement in the church. Eva was united in Holy Matrimony June 19, 1959 in Tampa, Florida to Willie James Minor who preceded her in death on January 5, 2018. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Emma Williams; siblings, Mathew Harris Sr., and, Deloris Williams. A host of nieces, nephews, Great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and devoted cousins. Eva leaves to cherish her precious memories her nephew, Mathew Harris, Jr. (Malichand); three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Minor Goins (Charles) Tampa, Florida, Thelma Minor Billings (Eddie) Fort Worth, Texas and Catharine Minor Harvey (Lee), Riverview, Florida; one brother-in-law, George Monroe, Williston, Florida; two sisters-in-law, Lillie Tombs Minor and Loretta Gilbert, both of Tampa, Florida ; one uncle, Willie D. Rayford, Williston, Florida; one aunt, Catherine Brown, Williston, Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great- great nieces and nephews and devoted cousins; very special friends and adopted family, Ruben Yeoman, Jr., and Juanita, Odessa, Florida; other relatives and friends including devoted neighbors of many years, Tom and Susanne Goldtraps and Brenda R. McAllister, all of Tampa, Florida. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, February 22nd from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church for the service on Saturday.
