Evelyn
Lawson
February 28, 1948 – July 24, 2013
Homegoing graveside service for Mrs. Mae Evelyn Haynes Lawson of Tampa, who passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, will be held on Saturday, August 3rd, 10:00 a.m. at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Ave., Tampa, Florida 33610, Rev. Danny Schaffner, officiating. Interment will follow the service. Mae Evelyn Haynes Lawson was born on February 28, 1948 to Mr. Bohanna Haynes and Ms. Julia Ann Jones in Ocala, Florida. She attended and graduated from Hillsborough County Schools. She spent the majority of her working years touching the lives of those that were down on their luck at The Spring of Tampa Bay. In 1982, the first chapter to a love story began, resulting in marriage in 1999. The love they shared between them was undying and was constantly solidified with the promise between them "Zusammen im Himmel"-together in heaven; the story isn't over, it's just on pause. Mae Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Bohanna Haynes and Julia Ann Jones. She leaves to mourn her passing and forever cherish her memory, her loving and devoted husband, Steve; sisters, Yvonne Keenan (Horace), Bessie B. Jones, Grace Crawford (Johnny), brothers, Larry (Alice), Lorenzo (Robin) and Bernard; nieces, Monye, Monyatta, Yumeka, Yakeia, Sharon, Deitra, Amie and Cherrell; nephews, Emmanuel, Larry, Jr., Mario, Nicholas, Johnny, Julius, Robert, William, Curtis, Paul and David; cousins, Gladys Starker (Jimmy), Dorothy Newton, Sam Butler (Ollie); a sister-in-Christ, Emma Carnegie; life-long friends, Mable and Sonny Durham; goddaughters, Celeste Carnegie and Sonya Walbey; godson, Eric Durham, friend, Emily Echavarria; three children she felt were too special to her to "just" be her great nieces and nephew so she took the title of godmother to all of them as well, Evantae Hunter, Chanel Harris and Fredrick Harris, Jr.; these are just a few people whose lives she touched by her loving spirit and will forever love and miss her. The visitation will be held at the graveside. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the service on Saturday.
