Homegoing services for Mrs. Evelyn Louise Thornton of Tampa, who passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012, will be held Saturday, August 25th, 2:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, with Bishop Dr. Randy Coggins, officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Evelyn was born August 11, 1943 in Tampa, Florida. She graduated from Howard W. Blake High School class of 1961. She was a supervisor at St. Joseph Hospital Dietary Department for 14 years. She was a manager and dietician for St. Paul United Methodist School until her retirement. Evelyn was a Christian lady. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, ceramics and cooking. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillie Mae Thornton; father, Johnathan Thornton and brother, Rudolph Thornton. She leaves to cherish her memories with her daughter, Cheryl Denise Williams-Sun; son, Earl T. Williams and son-in-law, Frank Sun; grandson, Logan Shou-Wei Sun; a host of cousins, family and friends; family friends, Chris Brown, Micha Jones, Thomas A. Mitcham and Lakesha Grayson, Catledge family, Dawn Andrews and family and King family. The viewing will be held on Friday, August 24th, from 5-8 p.m. Family will receive friends from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
