Obituary

A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Fannie Mae Walker Miller, of Tampa, who passed away on Monday, April 13, 2009, will be held Saturday, April 18th, at First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, 4025 W. Palmetto St., with Pastor Anthony Green, officiating. Interment will follow in Orange Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Miller was born on November 25, 1933, in Rhine, Georgia to the late Felix Walker and Idonia Simmons Walker. She was converted at an early age at Millcreek Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Charles Burney. Mrs. Miller came to Tampa, Florida in 1943 where she met and married Mr. Jack Miller in 1953. She was a longtime resident of Central Park Village where she was known and loved by many. She was employed as a cook for many years at Tibbits Restaurant and then The New Lounge where she retired from. Mrs. Miller was a lifelong member of the Leisure Club and The Checkers Social Club. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens joining in 1963 under the leadership of Rev. John Stephens. She served as secretary, sang in choir #1, president of the #2 usher board and the kitchen department. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Eula Walker. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: sons, Jack Miller, Jr. and wife, Linda, Larry Miller and wife, Jeffrie, Roger Miller and Danny Miller; a very devoted daughter, Shelia Miller Smith and husband, Thomas; daughter-in-Christ, Bridgette Perry and husband, Wallace; grandchildren, Linda Miller, Jack Miller, III, Jermaine Miller, Latisha Miller, Robert Miller, Tapeeka Miller, Tammara Miller and friend, LaToyia Brim, Larry Hodges, Shameka Miller, Chris Ballard, Cameron Miller, Jarvis Miller, Cherry Gibson, Dantavios Miller, Rafiq Miller, Tabeel Smith and Darryl Underwood (Man-Man), all of Tampa, FL; great-grandchildren, Lorenzo Ashley, Tiyanne Davis, Temarcus Davis, India Miller, NiJae Smith, Rashaw Miller and Dakari Miller; 2 very devoted god-daughters, Arie Davis and Twanda Carter; extended family, Betty and Charles Dean and family of Riverdale, GA, Gary Mizell and family of Tampa, FL, Wanda D. Satchell of Atlanta, GA, Willie J. Mizell and family, Roberta Walker of Tampa, FL, Anthony Mizell and family of Atlanta, GA, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Morgan and family of Lake Wales, FL, Mattie Simmons and family of Tampa, FL, Betty Walker and family of Miami, FL, Bruce Simmons and family of Tampa, FL, Harold Evans, Barbara Jones, James Woodall, Gregory Woodall, Keith Woodall and wife, Paulette, Melvin Woodall and wife, Janice, Lillian Hodgson, Marti Woodall and wife, Paulette and Charlie Thomas, Jr. and wife, Joyce; devoted friends, Sweetie Sanders, Julius Williams, Betty Dempson, Cynthia Forde, Delores Hunter, Mabel Ball, Nina Mae, Curtistine and Flossie Weeks; and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends. The remains will repose at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, April 17th, from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. The funeral cortege will arrange from 3508 E. 28th Ave. Friends are asked to assemble at the church approximately 10:45 a.m. Saturday for the service.
