Mrs. Flora Bell Brown

A homegoing celebration for Mrs. Flora Bell Brown of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019 will be held Saturday, June 29th, 2:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Pastor Lorenzo Magwood, officiating. The interment will be held in Orange Hill Cemetery. Flora Bell Brown was born on February 3, 1935 in Tampa, Florida to the late Warren Brown and Frances Anderson. She was educated in the Hillsborough County School System. Flora Bell was a long-time employee of The University of South Florida as well as Hillsborough County Schools. During retirement she enjoyed serving the less fortunate of the community until her time of disablement. She was an excellent cook and she loved her neighborhood. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Giles; grandmother, Lelia Dozier; 1 brother, Calvin McCants; 1 sister, Lelia Mathis; 2 uncles, Benjamin Howell and Clyde Dozier and 1 aunt, Laura Bell Howell. She leaves to cherish her precious memories with her children, Doreen Brown, Delean Brown, Anthony Knight and Derick Giles; she had many grandchildren including, Tory Giles and Aleix Williams; a host of great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances Williams and Maxine McCants; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; neighbors, Jeri Reynolds and Ann Moore; neighbor and family, Magwood family; neighbor and close friend, Ronnie Long; a host of other relatives and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, June 28th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
