A Private Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Floyd Edward Headen, Sr. of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2020 will be held on Saturday, July 17th, 2:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Randy Ruth, officiating.

Sunrise began on December 30,1948 for Floyd Edward Headen, Sr. He was born to father, Kelly Palmer Headen and mother, Beatrice Sutton Headen. He was the 3rd out of 5 children Betty, Gene, Floyd, Lillie and Mary Headen. Floyd was born and raised in Siler City, Chatham County, North Carolina. Floyd met his future wife, Zelda Oliva Searles in 1980, in Raleigh North Carolina. As life continued to merge for them both, they transitioned down to Central Florida where they raised two children, Deonna Marie Headen and Floyd Edward Headen Jr., Floyd Sr. supported his family as a laborer and small business owner.

In 2015, Floyd retired after 26 years of service at the University of South Florida. Floyd Headen was a humble and simple man. He enjoyed helping others, working with his hands and the Carolina Panthers! He is survived by his wife, Zelda Headen; daughter, Deonna Headen and his son and daughter in law, Floyd, Jr. and Jeannette Headen. He has 8 grandchildren, Jaiden, Abrianna, Taylor, Logan, Ashia, Cheyenne, Mayah and Kano Headen; Gene and Mary Headen are his surviving siblings, along with his great aunt, Mary Peoples.

He will be missed as a caring husband and father. He finished this life strong!! We love him and miss Floyd Headen Sr. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home one hour prior to the service. The service will be live-streamed. We are following the CDC guidelines.
