Homegoing Services for Mrs. LaForest Best of Tampa who passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012, will be held Saturday, August 25th, 12:30 p.m. at 34th Street Church of God in Christ, 3000 N. 34th Street, Rev. Dr. Thomas Scott, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. LaForest was born in Douglas, Georgia February 23, 1928 to the late Andrew Curtis, Sr. and Viola Scott Curtis. LaForest was a member of 34th Street Church of God in Christ, where she was a former member of the Usher Board and the Guiding Light Ministry. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Vernell Glover and Betty Curtis and brothers, Tommie Curtis and Andrew Curtis, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories: brothers, Ronnie J. Moore, Douglas, Georgia and Jonathan W. Moore, Tampa; brother-in-law, David Best (Deannie), Tampa; sisters-in-law, Charlie Mae Mathis and Mary Best both of Tampa, Doris Tolliver and Vernell Best Cloresko (Joe), all of Cleveland, OH; nieces: devoted niece, Lyndia Mathis-Hills (Audley), Gwen Damien (Willie), Betty Gaines (Dave) and Kathleen Ransom, all of Tampa, Olivian Mathis, Atlanta, GA and Courtney Moore, Douglas, GA; nephews, Dan Mathis (Salithia), Kelly Best, Jr. (Ann) and Lawrence Mathis (Charlotte), all of Tampa, Kevin Moore, Fred Moore and Donovan Moore, all of Douglas, GA; cousins, Mary Newton, Douglas, GA and Lillian Johnson, Tampa; ex-husband, Johnnie Best, Tampa; caretakers and friends, Betty Napier and Maxine Larkins, Tampa; best friend, Lillie Kemp, Tampa; special great niece, Tolana Mathis; and a host of other great nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday evening. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church for the service on Saturday.
