Frances Semple peacefully departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, faith and devotion to family. She will be remembered as a warm-hearted woman whose greatest joy came from caring for those she loved and sharing life's simple pleasures. Born in Guyana, South America, Frances attended Uitvlugt Secondary School, where she formed lifelong friendships and developed the values that would guide her throughout her life. She was known for her remarkable talents in cooking, knitting, crochet and needlepoint. She also enjoyed singing hymns and praising her Lord and Savor. Her hands created not only beautiful works of art but also countless memories for family and friends. Frances also enjoyed relaxing with her favorite daytime soap operas and never missed an opportunity to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, especially during the beloved Alex Trebek era. Frances cherished her large and loving family and maintained close ties with the extended Semple, Hyman, Burgess, Armstrong, Benjamin and Hilliman families. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and togetherness, where family gatherings were treasured and everyone was welcomed with love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Boston Hyman and Emmeneze Hyman; husband, Robert Alexis Semple; daughter, Marva Semple-Corte; brothers, Charles Wilton Hyman, George Ronald Hyman and Edward "Fox" Hyman; sister-in-law, Waveney Hugh; aunt, Rhoda Hollingside (Uriel); brothers-in-law, Standford Alexander, Charlie Semple, Patrick Armstrong and Neville Hugh; her dear friend, Elizabeth Jeffrey; and a host of beloved Hyman relatives who preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory to her sons, Bobb Alfred Semple (Sandra), Clarence Semple, Sr. (Sherydan), Robert Semple, Jr. (Robertha) and Mark Semple (Cherenda); daughters, Eulene Stewart (James, Jr.), Donna Semple and Sharon Hayes. She was a devoted grandmother to Deniece Parkinson, Dionne Fontenelle, Bob Semple, Jr. (Misheba), Donovan Semple, Clarence Semple Jr., James Stewart III, Malcolm Semple, Roberta Semple (Demas Serrano), Emani Cheng, Ariel Semple, Chey Semple, Ryan Stone, Lauryn Harris (Kenny), Maya Burford, Alex Semple, Robert Semple III and Carter Semple; great-grandchildren, Alexandria Fontenelle, Delon Parkinson, Jr., Ava Fontenelle, Alani Harris, Emerald Serrano, Miracle Semple, Journee Harris and Saige Dickson; aunt, Rebecca "Eloise" Lashley; sister, Lucretia Alexander; sisters-in-law, Joan Hyman and Myrna Boodie; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Benjamin (Julie-deceased) and Philip Armstrong-Gill (Betty); along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives, and friends whose lives were enriched by her love and kindness. Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we celebrate a life well lived and a woman who touched countless lives with her compassion, wisdom and unwavering dedication to family. Frances' memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. "Her love was the thread that bound her family together and her legacy will continue for generations to come."
