Obituary

Mr. Fred Chester was born in Brooksville, Florida on July 19, 1936, to the late Andrew Chester Sr. and Exie Lou Kinsey Chester.  The family moved from Brooksville to Tampa, Florida. After graduating from High School, Fred enlisted in the United States Army and after 22 years of exceptional service he retired as a CW3 Chief Warrant Officer. While serving in the United States Army he received the Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.  After returning to Tampa, he became employed with the City of Temple Terrace as a supervisor of Mechanical Maintenance. He was a graduate of HCC Community College. As a world traveler he traveled to 5 of the 7 continents Asia, Africa, North America, South America and Europe experiencing a variety of cultures.  Fred was a master on the grill as his family welcomed and enjoyed his delicious BBQ for every holiday feast. He was a devoted, loving husband, father, and brother and will be forever missed.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Chester Sr. and Exie Lou Chester; daughter, Sandra Ross; sisters, Louise Chester Robertson, Cora Chester Martin, Emma Chester Marhold, and Vernita Chester Boone, brothers Andrew Chester, Jr. John Chester, and Curlie Chester.

He leaves to cherish his beautiful memories with his loving and devoted wife Ora Sledge Chester; daughter, Shellond Chester, twin-brother, Frank Chester (Maggie); sisters, Rita Anderson and Thelma Inghram (Clint); granddaughters, Jordan Alexander and Aubry Snipe; great-grandson, Zario McCray; great granddaughters, Alglyanna and Jasiela McCray; brother-in law, Jerald Sledge (Louise); devoted caregivers, Bonneta Graydon, Madelyn Hersey and Selwyn Fleming and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
