Obituary

A Homegoing Service for Mr. Fred H. Danzey, Sr. of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Monday, May 9, 2016, will be held on Thursday, May 12th, 2:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Rev. Michael Neely, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Fred was born on August 22, 1932 in Abbeville, Alabama to the late William and Essie Danzey. Fred was raised in Alabama and then moved to Gifford, FL. He then moved to New York and worked as an automotive technician engineer until retirement. After his retirement and the passing of his wife, Carrie Lucinda Danzey, Fred returned to Florida to live. Fred was known by family and friends as Pop, Freddy or Mr. Fred. He was an avid baseball fan and more importantly a devoted New York Mets fan. Fred lived his life according to his terms and though he was a man of few words, when he spoke his words had an impact. He taught his children to have a strong work ethic and expected them to do their best in all that they did. Preceding Fred's death was his wife, Carrie Lucinda Danzey; daughter, Frederina E. Danzey; sister, Hazel King of Palm Bay, FL; brother, Oscar Danzey of Jersey City, NJ. Fred leaves to mourn his loss: two brothers, Martin Danzey and Gus Danzey of Florida; his children: Celestine Battle and Fred H. Danzey Jr. of Harrisburg, PA, Althea Robin Danzey of Plainsboro, NJ and Terrence Lee Danzey of Brooklyn, NY; two daughters-in-law, Denise Danzey of Harrisburg, PA and Tonya Danzey of Brooklyn, NY; son-in-law, Carmichael Taylor of Plainsboro, NJ; grandchildren, Amyla K. Danzey of Harrisburg, PA, Yashua E. Lane of Plainsboro, NJ, Terresa and Tyrell Danzey of Brooklyn, NY; nieces, Queen McGowan, Princess and Rhonda Danzey; long-time friend, Veronica Davis; adoptive grandchildren, Kenyel Davis, Terah Davis, Ceanna Davis and Sara Davis of Tampa, FL; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends and neighbors. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday, May 12th. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel for the services.
