Gabrielle Anita Harris was born in Miami, Florida, on December 13, 1958, to Jeanette Harris and Alfred Ferguson. She was educated in the Miami-Dade County Public School System and graduated from South Dade Senior High School in 1974. Gabrielle always had a passion for culinary arts. She attended Lindsey Hopkins Technical College and received certifications in commercial foods, culinary arts, and baking. She started her career as a food service worker in the 80s at Gramercy Park. After relocating to Tampa, she continued in food service at university village.

She moved on to work at Central Tampa Assisted Living where she worked hard and was loved by her coworkers and the residents. Gabrielle was the oldest of 5 children, and could be described as loving, sweet, humble, and funny. She was the true definition of a "great big sister". Above all, family was a priority for her. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends who will miss her, but she will always remain in their hearts and fondest memories. She was preceded in death by, her father, sister, Rosa and brother, Paul.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Walter (Dawn), Edgar, Shuanita (James Sr.), and Deandris; grandchildren, Leandris, Xavies, Vashti, Walter, Kayla. Darius, Isiah, Wakeisha, Cyress, Altheia, Kaleb, Etravia, James II, Jamiah, and Jaleah; great grandchildren, Alixis, Lea, Breanna, Kaitlyn, Aniyah, Avery, Orion, Kaelyn, Kailani, Kaavi, Iyanna, Isaiah, Leilani, Zahir, Sereniti, and Alonzo; her mother, Jeanette Ferguson; sisters, Ethel, and Teri; and a host of other relatives and friends.
