Homegoing celebration for Mr. Garfield Lloyd Farquharson "Joe" who passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, will be held Saturday, February 26th, at 10:00 a.m., at St. John Progressive M.B. Church, 2504 E. Chipco St, with Rev. Bartholomew Banks, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Farquharson was born on May 8, 1943, in Jamaica, West Indies. He was educated in Jamaica and went back to school to finish his education while residing in Tampa. He worked for Bringle Brothers for several years before leaving to work for CSX, where he retired after 30 years on June 28, 2007. Mr. Farquharson was preceded in death by his parents, Ashlyn and Judith Farquharson. He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife, Theresa Farquharson; children, Eunice Russ, Ann Marie Farquharson (John), Darrick Farquharson (Nicole), Rogelio Farquharson (Brittany), Erica Vereen (Tony), Eric Farquharson; brothers, Edmond Farquharson (Dawn), Derrick Graham (Celia), and Hugh Farquharson (Enid); sisters, Bernice Henderson (Joseph), Lorna Alexander (Erol), and Mabel Farquharson; aunt, Iris Graham; uncle, Ishmael Salmon; sister-in-law, Mattie Smith (James); brother-in-law, Lawrence Brown (Angie); mother-in-law, Eunice Frazier; aunt-in-law, Lillie Henderson; 20 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, also extended family, friends and godchildren. Special thanks to Brandon Regional Hospital ICU staff, Hospice Indigo team, St. John Progressive Family and Aikens Funeral Home staff. The viewing will be from 5-8 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, February 25th, the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the church at 9:45 a.m. for the service on Saturday. There will be no viewing at the service.
