Sergeant First Class Garmon Bell was born June 7, 1950 in Reynolds, Georgia to parents Garmon (Joe) and Mildred Bell. He was the second of five children. He was educated in the Hillsborough County school system, graduating from Middleton Senior High School. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army. The Army gave him the opportunity to travel to many exciting places throughout the world. He obtained the rank of E7 before leaving active duty, continuing his service in the Army Reserve.

After the military, Garmon moved to the San Francisco in 1977 where he met his beautiful and dedicated wife Cynethia "Cindy. They remained married until God called him home. Garmon was a graduate of Skyline College, UC Berkeley and San Francisco State University obtaining a Masters degree in broadcasting. Garmon worked as an immigration officer and federal agent for the Department of Homeland Security. He also went back to school within the past few years to obtain his paralegal degree. He was a strong advocate for education. He was also a Sunday school teacher and an usher at Paradise Baptist Church in California. Mr. Bell loved traveling, going to the park, DJing, and spending time with his wife and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Garmon, Sr. and Mildred Bell; brothers, Hinton and KC Bell; nephews, Albert Wilder, Jr., James Anthony Wilder, and Lorenzo Floyd; uncles, Clifford McClendon, and Jim, Hosley, and Bob Shorter; aunts, Hattie Lee Shorter (Hosley) and Ozzie Lee McClendon.

He leaves precious memories with wife, Cynethia Bell; sisters, WillieMae Wilder, and Lillie Stegall (John); nieces, Mary Ann Wilder, Barbara Baity, Francina McAfee (Ceaph), Sonia Bullard, Fauna Rencher, Shonquisha Engram (Eddie), Khadijah Ranger, Chardonnae K. Wilder, Asha Baity, and Sykeria Wilder; nephews, Willie Frank Wilder, Kaleb Stegall, Elijah Gomez, Malcolm McCullough, Ceaph McAfee III, Ceaph K. McAfee IV (Keilena), and Albert Wilder, Jr.; a host of many other nieces, nephews, and cousins; relatives and special friends, Duke and Eula Ellington, Kenny Block, Tommy and Debbie Johnson, Vickie Bishop, Monica Keyes, and Jackie Lewis.
