Gene E. Greene was born on June 22, 1932, to Isaac Greene and Carrie Bell White, in Plant City, Florida. Gene attended the schools of Plant City and eventually moved to Tampa. Gene was the third of three children. He joined the United States Air Force at the age of 15 and was active for 12 years. After the Air Force, he was employed at the Longshoreman until he retired in 1962. He loved to fish, read, was a huge fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and importantly, loved to take care of his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Isaac Greene and Carrie Bell White.

He leaves to cherish his memories, special partner in life, Sandra Williams; son, Michael Greene; stepsons, Lenwood Rance, and Maurice Stewart; stepdaughter, Sabrina Moore, whom he loved as his own; sister, Joan White Rivers (Eddie); brother, Billie White (Charlotte); along with a host of other family and friends.
