Homegoing Celebration for Sister Geraldine A. Murray who passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013, will be held on Saturday, November 23rd, 2:00 p.m. at St. John Progressive M.B. Church, 2504 E. Chipco St., with Rev. Dr. Bartholomew Banks, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Sister Geraldine A. Murray was born May 13, 1937 in Tampa, Florida to the late Julius Walters, Jr. and Ruth Richardson. She was preceded in death by 3 grandsons, Corey Mills, Jackie Gayton and Carl Walters; sister, Melvina Walters and 2 dear friends, Deacon Charlie Ball, Sr. and Sister Leanora Hamilton. Geraldine was a graduate of Don Thompson High School, in 1955. She was employed at Tampa General Hospital for 22 years. In 1968, she joined St. John Progressive M.B. Church. She ministered in the Sunday School Department, Usher Board #1, Health Care Ministry and was a member of the Young Adult Choir, Choir #2, Intercessory Prayer Ministry, Grief Ministry, Senior Mission Society, Vacation Bible School and the Leadership Institute. She leaves to cherish her memory; 5 sons, Lucious (Valerie) Walters, Clarence (Linda) Rogers, Donald R. King, Michael (Michelle) Murray, all of Tampa, Fl, and Jerry King, Bushnell, FL; 2 daughters, Sharon (Bruce) King 'O-Harrow, Orlando Fl and Yolanda (Sylvester) Jackson, Tampa, FL; sister, Vivian (James) Suttle; aunt, Bernice Hill and family; uncle, Raymond Walters; 2 cousins, Leonard Walters, Jr., and Larita Walters; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 2 adopted grandchildren, Minister Joshua and Kaleesha Bent; god daughter, Norma Jean Smith; special friends; Rev. David (Shirley) Jones, Sr., Carrie Rhanes, Jackie Preston, Lisa Baker, Debra Cooper, Gwen Legget and family, Archie (Mae) Young, Rudolph (Juanita) Walker, Frances Williams, Christine Poole, Antonio Barber, Geraldine Jefferson and family, Lula McIntyre, Melanese Bradley, Catherine Smith, Minister Belinda Williams, Shemia Hollingshed, Jackie Malcolm, Christine and Seanna Ellis, Rev. Dr. Bartholomew (First Lady Vanessa) Banks, Minister, Anthony (Bernice) Lewis, Minister Vincent (Mary) Strange, Deacon Isaac (Betty) Gallon, Deacon James (Rose) Watson, Deacon John (Mae) Brittingham, Deacon Willie (Verniene) Monroe, Deacon Charlie (Patricia) Ball, Jr., Deacon Larue (Carol) Dorsey, Deacon Delatorro (Anna) McNeal; and a host of other sorrowing friends and relatives. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, November 22nd, from 5-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:30- 7:30 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
