Gernon was born on October 24, 1968, in Tampa Florida, to Olin and Mildred Newsome. He loved watching television, going to the beach to watch the waves, and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Olin Newsome Sr.

He leaves precious memories with his mother, Mildred Newsome; brothers, Olin D. Newsome Jr. (Tina) and Laron D. Newsome (Shannon); aunts, Gloria and Mentoria Sherfield; nieces, Deandrea N. and Tiana N. Newsome; great nieces, Miana-Mulan and Tru-Taji Newsome; nephew, Jax Newsome; cousins, Frances, David, and Pearl Whitehead, and Bob Johnson, Lee Newsome Jr., Otella Edwards, Eddie-Lee, Frankie, Felicia, Ricky, and Nathaniel Newsome, John Hudson (June), Leroy, Joe, and Tommy Johnson, Gretchen Kea-Williams, Joe Mitchell Jr., Sandra, Crystal, and Christopher Sherfield, Angela Richard, and Tameka Powell; special friends, Helena Green and the Brandon Class of 1986, Gabrielle Ayala, The Ol97 Boyz: Terrance "Poncho" Mitchell, Edrick Powe, Keith Powe, Ronald "Peanut" Blount, Stevie "Chuck" Baker, Chris "Diesel" Frierson, Stanley Gloster, Larry Walls and Greg "Ghost" Haley, and a host of family and friends that loved him dearly.
