Homegoing celebration for Mrs. Gladys Chapper of Tampa who passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014, will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church of College Hill, 3838 N. 29th Street, Rev. Dr. Evan Burrows, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Gladys Chapper was born February 27, 1924 to Mr. and Mrs. Richard and Pearl Walden Backey. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Eula Mae and Ruby; son, John. She leaves to cherish her memories with daughter, Willie Mae Chapper; sons, Gene Backey (Beverly), Norman Chapper (Gwen) and Nelson Chapper (Patricia); grandchildren, Gene Simmons (Marie), Regina Simmons, Wanda Edwards, Ricky Chapper, Cindy Hilton (Chris), Daryl Chapper, Sabrina Nobles, Keisha Gentry, Mann Gentry, Nelson, Chapper, Jr., Marsha Johnson, Shirika Chapper and Shancola Chapper; great grandchildren, Terriesha, Briana, Herman, Shakenna, Keyon, Arnelle, Jaylen, RcHale, Dontae, Geral, Daisha, Taisha, Gene, Micheal, Christopher, Conner and Caleb; 1 niece and 2 nephews, Willie L. Range (Gloria), Gladys Buckhanan, Horace J. Range and a host of other relatives and friends. The visitation will be held Friday, January 10th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
