Guillermo, affectionately called "Matos", was born on April 5, 1942, in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Island to Jorge Matos and Florestine Ann Querrand. Matos loved watching boxing, playing dominos, playing his ukulele, and swimming. His favorite baseball team is the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Angel Matos; and sister, Rosita Elena Matos.

He leaves precious memories with his children, Maria Matos Mathias (Dave), Margarita Matos Adams (Claude), Melissa Matos Lara (Jose), Guillermo Matos Jr. (Nicole), Juanito Matos (Latanya), Johnny Matos (Elizabeth), and Luisa Matos Nicholas (Sherard); a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Jose Matos, Jorge Matos, Eduard Matos, Clemente Matos, Ermelindo Matos, Domingo Matos, Miguel Matos, and Alfonso Matos; sisters, Luisa Matos, Clotilda Millin, Teresa Matos, Anita Maynard, and Cecelia Sookram; a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, and nieces; previous spouse, Verna Matos; and other sorrowing relatives and friends.
