Homegoing services for Mrs. Gwendloyn Patricia O'Neal-Brown of Tampa who departed this life on Wednesday, September 19, 2012, in Atlanta, GA, will be held Saturday, October 6th, 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 3001 E. Ellicott Street, Rev. Dr. T.W. Jenkins, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Gwendolyn was born on May 5, 1949 to the late Mr. Roy Nathaniel O'Neal and Ms. Rosa Hugee Bruton. Gwendolyn attended and proudly graduated from Middleton High School and she furthered her education at Bethune-Cookman College, where she flourished and majored in English. She worked for Robert W. Rounsaville for twenty plus years where she was the vice president and handled many community affairs. She retired from Rounsaville at the age of 45 and became an entrepreneur and opened Gwen's Specialty Gifts. She went on to become a pillar in the community and touched many people lives. She leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories, her children: Cheriese L. Stewart of Tampa, FL, Bobby L. Brown, Jr. of Tampa, FL, and LaToya C. Brown of Stone Mountain, GA; grandchildren, LaNise Essick, LaKilah Thomas, Bobby L. Brown III, Willie H. Brown, Darrell D. Brown, Kearson Brown and Katherine Clay; two sisters, Inez Bush and Ruth Lockett of Tampa, FL and brothers, Dr. Edward C. Bruton of Manhattan, NY and Nathaniel R. O'Neal Jr. of Tampa, FL. She also leaves behind her loving mate who never left her side, Mr. Jimmie L. Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and endearing friends. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, October 5th, from 5-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
