Gwendolyn was born on June 8, 1953, in Tampa, Florida, to Raben and Martha Washington-Dixon. Gwendolyn was a member of Faith Temple Missionary Baptist Church. She was educated at the Hillsborough County Public Schools in Tampa a graduate of Meacham Elementary and Brooker T. Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raben and Martha Washington-Dixon; and siblings, Patricia Dixon, Linda Dixon, Roland Dixon, Sylvia Washington, Kenneth Dixon, and Donald Dixon.

She leaves precious memories with her children, Theresa Jones (Tyrone), Jeremiah Dixon (Misty), Cliffetta Wilder, and Diana Wilder; sisters, Betty Green, Gloria Felton (Reginald), Doris Fisher (Nathaniel), and Carolyn Malphus; 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
