Obituary

A Private Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Harold Brewer II of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020 will be held on Saturday, November 28th, 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of College Hill, 3838 N. 29th Street, Dr. Rev. S. Evan Burrows, Senior Pastor, officiating. The interment will be held in Oak Hill East Cemetery, Palatka, Florida.

Harold II was born in Palatka, Florida on May 8, 1947. He was preceded in death by his parents Harold I and Margreta Fort Brewer.

At an early age, he became a member of the Mount Tabor First Baptist Church, where he played the organ for several years. He began his formal education at Faulk's Kindergarten at the age of four. His matriculation continued to Central Academy Elementary School through sixth grade and Central Academy High School culminating with graduation in 1963. While in school he was a member of the band, and his main instrument was the trumpet, even though he could play the coronet, French horn, and the tuba. His focus, beginning in elementary school has always been the piano and organ, specifically the Hammond B-3 with Leslie speakers. After graduating high school, he attended Bethune Cookman College in Daytona, Florida, majoring in music and was a member of the BCC Marching Wildcats for four years. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, he taught music for a year at Interlachen High School in Interlachen, Florida before moving and teaching music in the Hillsborough County School System for over thirty years. Harold has been recognized by Kutana, a local TV program in Jacksonville, Florida for his musical talent and has played for numerous weddings, including his sister's and events both at church and in the community.

He is survived by his only sister, Loquita and brother-in-law, Cornell Francis, Jr. of Green Cove Springs, Florida; three nephews, Cornell III (Deanna) of Deltona, Florida; Travis (Shawnda) of Riverview, Florida; Curtis (Valesca) of Dumfries, Virginia; niece, Sobrina Chavis of Orange Park, FL; his grandnieces and nephews were just like his own, Kennedi, Ariana, Omari, Dakari, Orlando, Camden, Khrie; loving cousins, Nastraletta, Elizabeth, Angel, Brenda, Will, Felecia, Al, Susan, Johnny, Angelita, Lisa, Leon, Martha; a host of friends and fellow musicians. We will all miss him and his comedic, quick wit dearly. May God continue to hold him in His bosom. There will be a public visitation 10:00a.m. to 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service on Saturday. We are following the CDC guidelines.
