Obituary

A Private Memorial Celebration for Mrs. Harriet Jackson Coley of Tampa, Florida who fell asleep in Jehovah on Thursday, July 9, 2020 will be held Wednesday, July 15th, 11:00 a.m., Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Pastor Carolyn Riggins, officiating. Harriet Coley was born on July 9, 1944 to Ralph Dexter and Aretha Peterson Wiggins. She attended the public schools of Hillsborough County and graduated from Howard W. Blake. She worked until retirement for General Telephone Company. Harriet loved the word of God. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Dexter and Aretha Peterson Wiggins and Richard and Edith Jackson; brothers, Gerald Peterson and Ronald Peterson; special aunt, Aurora Beatrice Holmes (Benjamin), Hannah Wedlaw, Flossie Sneed; uncles, Booker T. Peterson, Hannie Sneed and Alfred Peterson. She leaves to cherish her precious memories with her loving son, Roderick Ashley; sisters, Loretta Watson, Carolyn Riggins, Oveda Carswell, Cynthia Peterson; brother, Rodney Peterson (Sharon); sister-in-law, Nell Peterson; grandchildren, Vashon Ashley, Antonio Ashley and Kavanta Gardner; aunts, Margaret Long and Rosemary Peterson; uncle, Otis Williams; special cousins, JoAnn Pownsend (Fernando), Juwanna Mathis (Robert) and Jackie Quartermon (Brent); nephews, Albert Carswell, Jr. and James Faison III; a host of other sorrowing relatives. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Wednesday for the service. We are following the CDC guidelines.
