Harry was a native of Tampa, Florida born August 29, 1945 to the late, Harry Sr. and Minerva Mae Thomas. He attended the public schools of Hillsborough County. He was employed at the age of 17 as a longshoreman with local union #1759, where he was known and well loved for over 30 years. He was a trustee of the local Pension and Welfare Board, where he served until his health would no longer enable him to perform his duties. Harry enjoyed cooking, fishing and shopping at Sam's. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Rossie White, Aneca Washington and Henry Washington; 11 uncles and 10 aunts. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 39 years, Helen Thomas; brothers, Ed (Mary) Thomas, Tampa, FL, Leon Thomas of Delaware and Anthony Thomas of Vero Beach, FL; sisters, Rovena Thomas of Tampa, FL and Vilene Thomas of Ft. Pierce, FL; aunts, Ruth Shelton of San Francisco, CA, and Freddie Mae White of Ft. Pierce, FL; uncle, Horce Washington of Tampa, FL; nephews, Charles Simmons, Jr., Percy Thomas, Joseph and Darryl; niece, April; goddaughter, Jonisha Shellman; devoted cousins, Earnestine Rosher, Gwen Walker and Larry (Wendy) Coleman; devoted friends, Tony, Doug, Anthony White and the Ward family; and a host of other relatives and friends.
