A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Hattie Mae Stokes of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 will be held Saturday, December 21st, 11:00 a.m., at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Pastor Byron Pressley, officiating. The interment will be held in Orange Hill Cemetery. Hattie Mae Stokes was born September 16, 1936, to the late Henry and Caroline Thomas. She attended the local schools of Hillsborough County. Her first employment was with James A. Haley Veterans Hospital. Hattie then married, Frank A. Stokes, Sr. Later in life she obtained her Home Health Certification at Leary Technical Center, class of 1992. She was employed with Gulf Coast Jewish Family Services. She attended Greater Mt. Carmel AME Church. Hattie enjoyed listening to music, going to the flea market and spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents;husband, Frank A. Stokes, Sr.; brothers, Henry, Marvin, Sr. and Fred, Sr. Thomas and Willie Thornton; sisters, Julia Peterson and Susie Smith. She leaves to cherish his precious memories with her children, Bernard Russell, Frank, Jr., Rena Celerin (Chaptal), Caroline (Grover), Karl (Luvene), Kathy, Lisa Stokes-Reeves and Elaine Jackson (Robert); grandchildren, Darious, Na'Kesia, De'Andre, Sr., Johniece, Johnathan, Ashley, Caleb (Kristina), Frank III, LaChrisha, Joshua, Devin, Zaina, Cierra and Zoi; great-grandchildren, Erica, Ricardo, Charles IV, Harmony, Ashton, De'Andre Jr., Chole, Isaiah, Hadassah, Hannah, Leah and Israel; special thanks to her grandsons, Darious and Devin. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, December 20th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. the family will receive friends during this time. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
