Brady, Jr.
November 13, 1955 – October 20, 2023
Hayward L. Brady, Jr., affectionately known as "Legend" and "Da Ball Coach", was born to Hayward L. Brady, Sr. and Josephine Margaret Bagley- Brady, in Tampa, Florida on November 13, 1955. Hayward attended local Hillsborough County Schools, and worked for the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department for well over 40 years, as a coach and recreation leader, and also with the Boys and Girls Club. Brady always referred to himself as a "Legend". He was not only a coach, but a mentor, friend, and father figure to many youths in the Tampa Bay Area. He enjoyed football, basketball, weight lifting and playing the guitar. He loved his rock and roll, and he always thought he was a member of a rock band. Hayward was also a proud member of Allen Temple AME Church.
He was preceded in death by parents; Hayward L. Brady, Sr. and Josephine Margaret Bagley- Brady; and brother, Mark Brady.
He leaves to cherish his memory; wife, Katrina Brady; children, Maya Collins (Willie), Hayward L. Brady III, Brian Brady, Kailah Wright (Cortez), Carllicia Murphy, Frederick Johnson, Kelvin Adkins, Kassandra Adkins, and Anfernee Murphy (Aliyah); grandchildren, Olujimi Brinson II, Jimil Brinson, MChla Brinson, Omar Mobley and Eryn Mobley; sister, Margaret Jeanette Gray Bruner; sisters-in-law, Carletta Hughes (English), Meryl Parrish and Shenita Dewindt; mother-in-law, Marilyn Parrish; uncle, John "Drag" Bagley (Bobbie); niece, Shontanica Howard; nephew, Major Lee Monticello Bruner III (Major Mia); special friend and supervisor, Alvin Holder; and longtime friend, Donna Jones
