Hazel was born December 25, 1938, in Tampa, Florida to the late John Johnson and Cora Washington. She studied her formal education in Hillsborough County Public Schools, where she completed and received her degree from Buffalo Night School. Although a Tampa native, she relocated to Germany where she resided for multiple years. Upon her return to the states, she later went on to sustain a gainful career with the Tampa Urban League.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Pastor Woodrow Tucker; brothers, Frank, Franklin, Westley, Deacon Ivory, and Walter Johnson.
Hazel was a member of Zion Pentecostal Ministries and loved to read her bible. She loved watching tennis and laughing. She was a loving and caring person, a devoted mother, sister, and grandmother. She was always taking care of others first.
She leaves to cherish her memories; her children, Phyllis, Curtis, Jr. (Katura), Awanda (Carlos), Shelton, Carla, Kelvin, Lisa, and Alonzo, Sr. (Evette); sisters, Callie Mae Mormon, Pastor Louisa Campbell, Minnie Bermudez (Arthur), and Mattie Price (JB); 27 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
