Mother Hazel Mae Ponder
A homegoing celebration for Mother Hazel Mae Ponder of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018 will be held Saturday, September 22nd, 11:00 a.m. at Cathedral of Faith Church, Inc. 6304 N. 30th Street, Apostle James H. Howell, officiating. Hazel was born March 7, 1926 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Mother Ponder was a loyal member and supporter of the Cathedral of Faith Church, where she served faithfully for 24+ years. She also served on the Mother's Ministry until her health began to decline. She was an avid participant in Taekwondo. Mother Ponder was a people lover and dearly loved her pastors. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ponder; parents, Rev. Washington Flenoy and Mamie Pope Flenoy and brother, Langston Pope; son, Lois Whatley III; daughter, Patricia Bryant; sons-in-law, James Bryant and Benjamin 'Ben' Jones. She leaves to cherish her precious memories with her children, Beverly Mauldin, Florette Jones and Sandra Kirby (Jerome); grandchildren, Delano Halfacre (Arlinda) and Kenya Elston; great-grandchildren, Deonta and Jeremy Carter, Delano III, Malik, Delin and Noah Halfacre, Marcus, Jazzmyn and Kolbi Elston; great-greatgrandchildren, Ja'Liyah, Aaron, Savannah, Jayden, Naben and Kyla Carter; special friends, Fermon and Alice Fleming, Lula Jones, Hard Rock Guest Relations Dept., special memories for Sister Marie Copeland and Sister Margaret Knight; Tara, her motorcycle buddy; many thanks to the staff of Ybor Rehab; friends, Margaret Prince, Carrie McFadden and Leandra Charron; a host of other family and friends that will miss her. The visitation will be held at Cathedral of Faith Church, Inc. on Friday, September 21st from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
