Homegoing visitation for Mrs. Helen Eyvonne Mensah who passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014 will be held Tuesday July 22nd from 4 to 7 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Helen Eyvonne Mensah was born on Saturday, May 5, 1956 in Sanford, Florida to Thomas and Corine "Jackie" White, the sixth of nine siblings. Helen moved to Tampa, Florida with her family at an early age and attended schools in Hillsborough County. Helen lived most of her life in Tampa. She worked in the hospitality industry. She also resided for a short time in Hernando Beach, Brooksville and Daytona Beach, FL where she made lasting friendships. Helen enjoyed family, cooking, dancing and playing cards. She loved her children and family dearly. She was always excited about family social events. If it was just her sons or the family at large, she was sure to pitch in and treat the family with one of her favorite entrAC.es. We all will remember a special time with Helen laughing, eating, dancing or playing and intense game of tonk, rummy and whist. She will be truly missed. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, George Henry Smith and Bonita Delittle White and grandchild, Isaiah Norwood. She leaves to cherish loving memories with sons, Jarvis L. White, Jacksonville, FL, Marvis G. Norwood and wife, Amanda, St. Petersburg, FL, Travis N. Norwood, Brooksville, FL and Jerry L. Daniels and wife, Johana, Daytona Beach, FL; 15 grandchildren, Jasmine A. White, LaMarvis, Natia, Gerard, Nyvaria, Marion and Marranda Norwood, Tayvon Brown, Travis, Jr., La' Aisha and Quintara Norwood, Kamerian Hibbert, Jerry III, Jayla and Jordan Daniels; 2 brothers, Johnnie Smith and wife, Dora and Rickey Smith and wife, Patricia; 4 sisters, Maxine Robinson and husband, Clarence, Alice White, Spring White and Lexxie Myrick, all of Tampa, FL; 1 uncle, Menzion Smith and wife, Jackie; 4 aunts, Bessie Lawson, Florien O'Neil and husband, John, Estella Williams and husband, Wilburt and Ada Dennis, spiritual sister, Donna Sanders and mother Johnnie Mae Holloway; 19 nieces, and nephews, Sonia, Johnnie Smith, Jr., and wife, Grace, George, Jabar and Justin Smith and wife, Latte, Aja Johnson and husband, Robert, Tenesha, and Tiffany Smith, Allison Poole and husband, Brain, Antonio Braxton and wife, Kim, Brandi Foster and husband, Raymond, Astin Shellman, Javonte Surcy, Shandann White, Aislyn Garland and husband, Curtis, Ronald Myrick, Jr., Celese Moss and husband, Christopher, Lyndon Dallas, Jr., and wife, Valerie, Jessica Bennett and husband, Terrance; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and other family and friends. The family will receive friends at during the wake from 5 to 7 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel.
