A Memorial Celebration for Ms. Helen Marie Simmons, who passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018, will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Byron Pressley officiating. Helen Marie Simmons was born on June 27, 1956, in Tampa, Florida, to the late Merriett and Helen Simmons. She was a graduate of Jefferson High School and also attended Hillsborough Community College. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Primitive Baptist Church. She retired from Hillsborough County School Board as a Teacher's Aide after many years of dedicated service. Helen Marie was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lula Johnson and god-mother, Roberta Burks. She leaves loving memories with daughter, Skyra Harper; grandchildren, Leon Bright, Jr., Roberta Bright, Le'Nyra Bright, Sy'Ria Bright, and Eu'Nice Marshall; brothers, Merriett Simmons, Jr. (Leonida), and Daniel Burks; sister Delores Wingfield (Robert); first cousins, Brenda Holley (Arthur), Glennette Paris, Lawanna Pressley-James, Ondria Bryant (John), Corey Pressley (Shirley), Demetria Pressley, Rev. Byron Pressley (Wendy); aunts Margaret Thomas, Liona Coates, Dolores Blanchett, and Jessie Starks; cousins, Mary Frances Ford (Sam), Esther Jones, Michael Jones, Rory Jones and a host of other family and friends. Family and friends are asked to assemble at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday for the memorial service.
