Homegoing services for Mr. Willie J. Henderson of Tampa who passed away, Wednesday, November 5, 2012, will be held Saturday, November 17th, 2:30 p.m., Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Bishop Michael Lewis, officiating. Interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery. Willie J. Henderson was born on August 24, 1943 to the late Paul J. Henderson and a devoted mother, Carrie L. Govan in Blakely, Georgia. He later moved to New Jersey for 44 years and then moved to Tampa, Florida, where he resided the last 23 years. Mr. Henderson retired from Bayonne Barrell and Drum Company, Newark, NJ and had also been employed at Tampa General Hospital. His father, Paul J. Henderson, stepfather, Elmer Govan and sister, Gennie M. Henderson preceded him in death. He leaves to memories to cherish with his devoted mother, Carrie L. Govan; ex-wife, Carolyn Henderson; 2 daughters, Monique Henderson and Tomeko Young (Robert); 1 son, Derrick Griffin (Gretchan); grandchildren, Dassan, Jerry, Jervon, Robert, Jr., Najiyah, Jasmeen, Tamara, Ra'Shayah, Robin and Za'Mya; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Nora Robert of Newark, NJ and little sister, Mary Stokes; aunts, Villo (Truett) and Bertha; nieces, Jeanette, Chrissy and Denise; nephews, Kent, Edward, David, Ronnie and Terrance; and a host of other nieces and nephews; the Brown, Peterson, Stokes, Corbett and Bush families; and other sorrowing relatives and friends; special friends, Pearlie Mae and Emanuel Doyle and Essie. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, November 16th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
