Herbert, Jr. was born on December 4, 1958, in Abilene, Texas, to Herbert and Naomi Hillard.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Hillard, Sr.; maternal and paternal grandparents; and sisters, Patricia Christmas and Crystal Hillard.

He leaves precious memories with his wife, Barbara Hillard; children, Herbert Watson (Rena), Larry Knott (Tameka), and Jermaine Murphy (Melissa); grandchildren, Lamecia, Terimyah, Iliyah, Jermaine, Jr., Branden, and Cameron; mother, Naomi Hillard; sisters, Phyliss Douglas, Esquezelda Joseph (Herman), Monica Hillard, Ingrid Dudley (Fredrick), and Lisa Hillard; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; sisters-in-law, Catherine (Tobe), Margaret, Sandy (Vaughn), Brenda (Shan); and brothers-in-law, Henry Lee, Will, and Jamie; and special friend, Mike Burns.
