Obituary

Homegoing celebration for Mr. Herman Calloway of Tampa who passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013 will be held Saturday April 13, 2013 11:00 a.m., at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Rev. Benjamin Daniels, officiating. Interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery. Herman "Knott" Calloway was born August 29, 1937 in Colquitt, Georgia to the parents of Arthur Calloway and Lula Adam-Calloway. He received his early education in the Miller county school system. He confessed Christ as his personal Savior and joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Herman was united in Holy matrimony to Johnnie Mae Turner on December 31, 1960; they were married 52 years. He was employed by the City of Tampa as a Truck driver for over 15 years and retired due to his health. His hobbies included fishing, barbecuing and taking pictures. He will be greatly missed by those he touched. Herman was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Walter "Bud" Calloway. He leaves to cherish his memory loving and devoted wife, Johnnie Mae Calloway; brothers, Arthur Calloway (Eddie Mae) of Colquitt, GA, and Talamadge Calloway of Colquitt, GA; sisters, Geraldine Fisher (Isaiah) of Tallahassee, FL and Willie Mae Calloway of Colquitt, GA; brothers-in-law, Joe Turner (Pat) of Tampa, FL and Andrew Turner of Millen, GA; sisters-in-law, Mary Freeman (William) of Tampa, FL and Mavene Shields (Jeff) of Tampa, FL; special nephew, Herman "Teddy" Brown; and a host of nieces nephews, cousins and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, April 12th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
