Homegoing celebration for Mr. Horace Scott of Tampa who passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2012, will be held Saturday, December 22nd, 12:00 p.m., at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, Minister Rev. Jerry Frazier, officiating. Horace was 66 years old and was born in Wrightsville, Georgia in 1946 to the late Jack Scott and Bessie Moye. Mr. Scott was a wise and understanding man with many talents and knowledge of all trades. Mr. Scott cherished family and friends and most of all enjoyed lots of laughter with them. He also enjoyed watching old black and white western movies. Mr. Scott's talents include being a Cub Scout leader and mentor for young teens. Mr. Scott also made a contribution to the Sheriff Youth Ranch and brought troubled teens into his home to help mentor them back to the right path. Mr. Scott was a great business man he owned and operated many businesses that included a family restaurant, trucking company, Ice cream vending, landscaping service and he was a paralegal. Mr. Scott was the highest paid African American in Polk County back in the 90's. Horace Scott was loved and will be missed by many. "My God, his co-pilot keep him under your wings and help his family have the strength to overcome this tragic time in their lives He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories with children, Hope Fields, Betty Jean, Horace, Jr., Trent, Christopher, Julius, Sandra, Andrew, William, Stephanie and Mitchell Scott; 30 grandchildren and a host of sorrowing relatives and friends. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, December 21, 2012 from 5 to 8 pm. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8pm. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
