Homegoing celebration for Mr. Ike Williams Jr., who passed away, Friday, March 27, 2015 at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Olive A.M.E. Church, Elder Frank O. Gray Sr., officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Cemetery. Ike Williams Jr. was born March 19, 1957 in Tampa, Florida to the late Ike Williams Sr. and Carolyn Birt Monroe. He was a native of Tampa and a resident of Lithonia Georgia for 30 years. He attended local public schools and graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1975. He furthered his academic pursuits at Florida A&M University where he was a member of the Marching "100" band as a Flag Corp. and graduated in 1979 with a degree in Business Education. He was employed as a business manager with United Parcel Service for 23 years. He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife of 30 years Kelly (Edwards) Williams of Atlanta, Georgia; his mother, Carolyn B. Monroe of Tampa, Florida; his son Corey Williams and wife Kimberly of Atlanta, Georgia; his grandchildren, Kourtney and Cody Williams of Atlanta, Georgia; his aunts, Barbara J. Birt and Mildred Thompson of Tampa, Florida; his uncles, Elliott Birt Jr. and wife Velma of Hartford, Connecticut; Otis Birt Sr. of Tampa, Florida; his great-aunts, Margaret Cannedy of Tampa, Florida; Ruth Martin of Washington, DC, his sisters-in-law, Laverne Latson, Deborah Lymon, Rosalyn McGill, Sandra Norman, and Stephanie Carmicheal of Tampa, Florida; his brother-in-laws, Robbie Latson of Denver, Colorado and Willie Latson of Tampa, Florida; his loving step-father, Willie Monroe, wife Verneine and son Marlon Monroe of Tampa, Florida; his step-sister, Michelle Monroe of Tampa, Florida; his brotherly cousin, Otis Birt Jr. and wife Eva of Grove City, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, April, 10, 2015 from 5 to 8pm. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
