Obituary

Mass of the Resurrection for the repose of the soul for Mrs. Inez Hughes Davis of Tampa, who passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010, will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010, 10:00 a.m., St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1223 N. Nebraska Ave., Father Hugh Chickawe, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Davis was born November 16, 1929 in Tampa, Florida. She was a member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, where she enjoyed her fellowship with other parishioners. She also enjoyed singing and cooking for her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Hughes; mother, Leona Jones Treat; grandmother, Marie Stribling (Big Baby); and daughter, Gloria Jean Davis Johnson. She leaves to cherish her memories: a loving spouse of 57 years, Allen Davis; children, Martha Ann Davis, Anita Davis, Alice Davis-Strong, Calvin Davis, Grace Davis, Charlotte "Nita Giles" Stanford and Gianna Morrison; grandchildren, Daryl Johnson, Arthur Dion Johnson, Neil Wilson, Tavarsha Johnson, Howard Davis, Tiffany Davis, Kareem Dessesseau, Michael Hampton, Kamelah Hampton, Willie Bailey Jr., Faran Bailey, Jason Tucker, Sheree Thompson, Alana Davis, Charde' Sylvester, Stephon Morrison and Gary Hicks II; great grandchildren, Allen, Arthur, Aaron, NikKetta, Neylay, King Zion, Kevin, Stephen, Kareem, Seandrea, Trevion, DeAndre, K'niyah, Wileacia, Wannaisha and Jaylan; brother, Alonzia Jones Giles; sisters-in-law, Richardean Davis, Florida Mae Davis, Dorothy Davis and Bettie Giles; sorrowing relatives, Willard, Alice, Carolyn, and Angela Davis, the Davis, Lillie, Joyner and Balkman families; special friends, Mary Filmore, Ella Dawkins, Robert & Helen Morrison, Herbert & Luella Carrington, Elnora Boone, Ralph & Beatrice Malone, Alicia Black, Jocelyn Carpenter and Vincent Sampson; and a host of sorrowing extended family members, friends and the St. Peter Claver Church Family. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday evening. The catholic wake service will be from 6 to 7 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home. The friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
