A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Inez "Granny" Smith of Tampa, who passed away Monday, July 22, 2013, at her residence, will be held on Saturday, August 3rd, at 11:00 a.m., New St. Matthew M.B. Church, 1006 S. 50th Street, Tampa, Rev. Alec Hall, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. Inez Smith was born May 16, 1923, in Alamo, Georgia to the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie (Eddie) Harris. She attended the schools of Wheeler County before moving to Tampa. Inez was a faithful member of Bethany Christen Center, Clair-Mel, Florida, Rev. Shellie Truss. Inez Smith was united in holy matrimony on March 2, 1948, to Ernest Smith. Inez was a homemaker and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. Inez was also an avid baseball fan who loved watching baseball; her favorite team was the Tampa Bay Rays. She attended her first Ray's game at the age of 86. Inez stated that was the best thrill of her life, she managed to see one more live game before her health started to fail. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bobby Felton; daughter, Cynthia Smith Maloy; granddaughter, Rashonda Smith; sisters, Mae Warren, Oneida Brewer, Earlene Troupe, Carrie Bell Oliver; brothers, Bennie Harris, Adrian Harris and Eddie Harris. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, August 2nd, from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
